By-Laws Article 1 - Membership
Section 1. Full Colors
A. This Chapter will consider persons only by membership application form.
1. Submission of Membership application Form.
2. A minimum of three (3) with two or more members as designated by the Sgt of Arms during the riding season, which is March 1st through October 31st. Two rides can be nondiscretionary and two must be to Buffalo Soldier Frontier events.
3. Review and vote on membership by all members. Approval must be unanimous. Any member who votes to reject the applicant must give their reasons.
4. If approved, the new member shall pay a one-time application fee, and receive upper and lower rockers only.
5. During the next six months, the probationary member will be required to complete three (3) sanctioned rides minimum as designated by the Sgt of Arms, and participate in club functions and activities, including monthly club meetings. During this time, the centerpiece of your colors will not be worn.
B. Legally licensed and insured to operate a motorcycle.
C. Currently own a motorcycle 750cc's and above.
D. Operate a motorcycle for 6-12 months.
E. Applicant agrees to resign from any known existing local or foreign motorcycle clubs and return colors to existing club. A letter confirming this action has been completed must be submitted to the club membership signed by the applicant, their sponsor, and the president of the previous club.
Section 2. Members at Large
A. Members at large are considered roving ambassadors. They are always looking for new prospects and are always favorably considered as chapter starters. An open state or city can only have one Member at Large. Members at Large will at as NABSTMC reps when negotiating the formation of a new chapter. They will be expected to know and follow the by-laws as if they were a chapter president because until the chapter is formed and election is held they hold that position.
Section 3. Associate Colors
A. Associate Colors refers to a patch holder who does not ride or own a motorcycle.
1. Associate Colors have the same responsibilities to the club as a Full Colors.
2. Submission of Membership Application Form
3. There will be a six-month waiting period during the riding season for Associate Colors, during which at least three (3) criteria must be met, as approved by the membership. Associate Colors members must attend a minimum of two Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club events.
4. Review and vote on membership by all members.
5. If approved, the new member shall pay one-time application fee and receive upper and lower rockers only.
6. During the next six months, the probationary member will be required to complete one criterion minimum and participate in club functions and activities, including monthly club meetings. During this time, the centerpiece of your Colors will not be worn.
B. Associate Colors who wants to become Full Colors must submit the same application requirements as a new applicant for Full Colors except for probationary period. There will be an applicant fee for new colors only.
C. Applicant agrees to resign from any known existing local or foreign motorcycle clubs and return colors to existing club. A letter confirming this action has been completed must be submitted to the club membership signed by the applicant, their sponsor, and the president of the previous club.
Section 4. Membership Application
A membership application must be submitted by the applicant's sponsor, one month prior to the applicant being addressed.
Section 5. Mandatory Event Participation Designated by the Chapter
Each member will attend a minimum of five Northeast Frontier events during the year according to the National BSTMC riding schedule. Our Northeast Frontier includes the states of PA, NJ, DE, MD, VA, CT and MA. Each member will participate in a minimum of one educational presentation by this chapter per year.
Section 6. Termination of Membership
Club membership can be terminated three ways:
A. A member can resign their membership at any time by advising the President and/or Vice President. When a member resigns, they must return their Colors, in tact, to the Sgt of Arms.
B. A member can be voted out of the club by membership, by a majority vote. When a member is voted out of the club, they must return their Colors, in tact, to the Sgt of Arms.
C. A member can be terminated for non-compliance of by-laws by the board of directors.
Monthly meetings are held the first (1st) Sunday at 1430 hours (2:30pm)
